Scholars enjoy weekend at Cumberland Lodge
Thursday 22 December 2011
Each December a group of the Trusts' scholars are invited to spend a weekend at Cumberland Lodge, the home of an educational trust set up in 1947 and a former Royal residence in Windsor Great Park, just outside London.
A wide range of participants, from many countries and varied academic fields, come together to enjoy a programme of talks, outdoor activities and social gatherings. This year the students were particularly fortunate to hear a performance by Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Leareate, and a talk by Professor Sarah Harper, Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing. They also attended Evensong at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, founded in 1348.
