Scholars’ Reception 2011
The annual reception for students supported by the Trusts took place on 14 March at the Fitzwilliam Museum, and was attended by the Trusts’ Patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
His Royal Highness was welcomed at the Museum by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Hugh Duberly Esq, the Mayor of Cambridge, the Vice-Chancellor of the University (Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz), the Director of the Fitzwilliam Museum (Dr Timothy Potts), and three representatives of the Trusts – Sir Martin Harris (Chair of the Trustees), Michael O’Sullivan (Director) and Sue Osterfield (Deputy Director).
HRH then met and talked with students of many nationalities who are supported during their studies at Cambridge by scholarships awarded by the Trusts and their funding partners.
Himself an alumnus of Trinity College, The Prince of Wales was Chairman of the Trustees of both Trusts until last September, and they are delighted that he agreed to continue his support as their Patron.
More than 600 students from 69 countries attended the occasion, and had the opportunity to view the galleries of the Museum, as well as meeting Trustees and staff of the Trusts, funding partners, and senior representatives of the University.
